KLE FAD promotes a sophisticated learning environment with best-in-class facilities on its campus. The department has state-of-the-art infrastructure including 8 fully furnished labs, namely fashion illustration, textile testing, junior pattern making, senior pattern making, advanced Juki pattern making, a textile wet processing lab, CAD/CAM, and fabric science & weaving lab with the digitizer. Regarding learning resources, KLE FAD is equipped with advanced Lectra Software imported from France for Pattern Making and Tuka Design from the USA. In addition, the FAD Department has access to some unique research archives and specialist resources.
KLE Society’s S. Nijalingappa College also has a well-stocked library comprising books, periodicals, exhibition catalogues, archival material, slides and videotapes and one of the largest arts and design collections in Bengaluru.
Extensive Courses & Practical-Oriented Curriculum
The Fashion & Apparel Department of KLE College is a single centre that has an exceptional range of art, design, and media & communication disciplines. Students can select from UG programmes, diploma courses or short-term courses. The department also provides a special certificate course on embroidery & garment surface ornamentation for SC/ST candidates for employability, sponsored by the Government of Karnataka.

Since its inception, KLE FAD has taken a leading role in the cultural economy through partnerships with business, industry and the wider community. Students undergo a minimum industrial training of 30 days in reputed boutiques, design studios, and apparel /textile manufacturing units, which can be done in India or abroad. Furthermore, students have to prepare a detailed report on various departments in the industry, gain practical knowledge, hands-on practice with complete machinery & softwares’, and handle the clientele base. There is also a craft documentation initiative where students can revive ancient traditional crafts and imbibe them in their product developments.

In addition, Mr. Sanjay & Ms. Shammy, the Bollywood Designers from Chola Fashion House, act as mentors to KLE FAD’s students and offer internships/ apprenticeships to facilitate them in the fashion business. Students also take part in numerous fashion congregations under their guidance.
Entrepreneurship Support
Students displayed their bridal collections to the public in the memorable Du Tour activity, which was conducted by the KLE FAD in the G.T. Mall Rajajinagar. This received much acclaim and attention.

The fashion and apparel department of KLE Society’s S. Nijalingappa College has maintained an excellent track record for placements. It has assisted all of its students in getting recruited in some of the best textile and apparel industries in India and abroad and supported them with setting up their own boutiques, studios, manufacturing units, etc.
Extra-Curricular Activities to Enhance Student Engagement
An annual Cultural Club is held at KLE Society’s S. Nijalingappa College, where students from different academic years and departments participate with zeal and enthusiasm. Various events are conducted, and artists & performers are invited. Likewise, spectrum, the college annual fest, is coordinated by the cultural club. In this event, the fashion, dance, and music teams work in coordination with the club under the guidance of faculty. Similarly, the Literary Club organised debates, discussions, poetry recitations, and creative writing activities.
